1st Trip to the Dentist

On Thursday, Marissa had her first dentist appointment. We had been talking about going to the dentist for the past month to get her used to the idea of someone digging in her mouth! I was nervous because it used to be a fight to brush her teeth! Lately it has become easier...

When we got there we had to wait over an hour!! Thankfully it was a pediatric dental office so there were lots of toys, books, and video games to keep her entertained! Then we went back and she sat in the big chair. The hygienist painted red dye on her teeth to check for plaque and was shocked that there was not build up! She said we are doing a great job brushing!! Yay for Mom! Then she brushed her teeth and Marissa did so good. Next she got out the polisher, let her smell the paste and let her hold the straw. She was such a big girl and loved it when she squirted water in her mouth!! Last she flossed her teeth and once again she listened so well. The hygienist was so amazed that she was only two. She said most two and three year olds are SCREAMING!! The dentist came in and counted her teeth. Marissa kept biting down on her mirror :) The only issue she saw was that when she bites down her teeth meet and don't overlap. She said that will change once her big teeth come in.

Since she was a good girl she got a goodie bag, balloon , and stickers! She was so proud of herself! Unfortunately, her balloon got away when we got home and she cried for 10 minutes. We told her the balloon went to be with Jesus!!
